Retail today is competitive. And of course in NYC with tens of thousands of stores, it's very competitive, so retail stores spend an absolute fortune creating their environments. Although parents have always loved and spoiled their children, it seems we now have extreme indulgence of parents with gifts, furnishings, clothing, food, etc. for their children. Add the affluence we find in a place like New York and you end up with places like this - a shrine to parental indulgence. Apparently giggle isn't just a baby store (it is marketed as a "new parent store"). They now have two stores each in New York and California - this one was in SOHO. Although I don't like promoting retail establishments on our blog, I must say I did find the window display extremely striking and attractive...Brian

This is so funny - the chairs in the window are danish design (called Trip Trap) - we have one at home and it's just the best. The marked for "new parents" is also booming in Chp. I know this for a fact being a new parent ;)

I just realized I made a mistake - the chair is called Tripp Trapp and made by the danish compagny Stokke ;-)
I'm one to promote compagnies either, but I can't help feeling proud when I se danish design in the big World :-)

I like the store. I like the babies. They look like the baby in Eraserhead.
I dont have a baby yet but I would love to visit this store too. Although we have a few baby stores here in Akita, they are not as pretty as " giggle".
