Excess canned or packaged goods, for example. So the impact they can have on the food waste problem will always be very limited.Brian Dubéhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12579167361224067819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23925148.post-79260589504196512942010-04-07T14:40:59.441-04:002010-04-07T14:40:59.441-04:00Terry B, isn't that City Harvest you referred-...Terry B, isn't that City Harvest you referred-to? Somehow, 15% doesn't seem too high for me. Probably because I wonder what the percentage would be in Croatia - my guess is near 30-40%. Although our portions in restaurants are smaller than in the US, we throw our food much more - the concept of boxes and taking leftovers home has only recently been introduced and accepted in some Chinese restaurants. However, in majority of other restaurants boxes for leftovers are unheard of. Also, the concept of taking your leftovers home is almost considered socially unacceptable. After 2 years in the US, to me, this "socially unacceptable" attitude in Croatia looks weird, pretentious and just plain stupid. There are too many hungry people next to all of us to throw away food like that.Mirelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12812450418473577892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23925148.post-82330105676545487572010-04-07T13:34:17.800-04:002010-04-07T13:34:17.800-04:00Brian, there's actually an organization in New...Brian, there's actually an organization in New York [the name escapes me at the moment] that picks up leftover food [not customer leftovers, but excess food] from city restaurants and uses it to help fight hunger. Yes, we do waste too much, but it's good to see that some efforts are being made to reduce the waste.Terry at Blue Kitchenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13504693954312787975noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23925148.post-47807433218802385072010-04-07T13:32:07.117-04:002010-04-07T13:32:07.117-04:00Thanks for informing us about the Wasted Food link...Thanks for informing us about the Wasted Food link.Levinson Axelrodhttp://www.levinsonaxelrod.org/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23925148.post-89522441391769891782010-04-07T12:34:58.696-04:002010-04-07T12:34:58.696-04:00Hi Brian,
