The 2 classes are taught separately but the teachers work together. This year the students were each given an ipad by the school system as part of a new experimental teaching program. All of the reading, so far, is done in actual physical books, thank goodness, however the reports and other homework assignments are done on the ipads and sent directly to the teacher, corrected, and sent back to the student with the corrections and any other instructions. The plan is to eventually put all of the school textbooks on the ipad and so far the school has an agreement with most of the textbook companies in place. All homework and papers will eventually be done on the ipad. A future without school notebooks seems to be coming awfully quickly. Though I applaud the fact that my boys will soon no longer have to carry a 20 lb. backpack each day, and I am also very happy to save all those trees, I also mourn the loss of physical books. The pages with other student's pictures drawn on them, the highlighted portions, (ok the torn (or missing) pages won't be missed), the list of past user's names on the inside cover. I realize I will no longer have to buy the college ruled three holed paper anymore - a savings for my wallet and for our forests. I guess that will go away as did carbon paper. It has its plusses and it has all those minuses. It is a strange new world ahead. I love books. I love collecting them. My boys, they love DVDs and they love collecting those. But the demise of DVDs is not long away either. My older son does collect graphic novels and comic books. How could you possibly collect comic books on an e-reader!Kendigramhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09793690118308907817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23925148.post-21507744317235044902011-05-07T07:35:11.139-04:002011-05-07T07:35:11.139-04:00I love books and just recently bought three.
