I came across this memorial with a friend in the 9th Street Community Gardens on Avenue C. We liked the simple, homemade assemblage. It makes a thoughtful statement without fanfare. Today, I let the photo speak for itself.
It was a terrible thing and it is good that memorials like this remind us all that we all cannot let it happen again. It happen here in Spain too and killing innocent people just to hurt, and send a message to the world is one of the most savage acts against humanity. Now more people are getting killed in an endless spiral which makes this all even more insane and absurd. My deepest sympathy to the families. I wish all those still affected are well taken care of by the government. That's the least they can do.
Thank you Brian ... I have been to the top of the twin towers and have been to the Ground Zero memorial Museum .. I was moved both times .. but in completely different directions ...
Like you, I have not many words for this day except perhaps god bless us all
ReplyDeleteA beautiful memorial. So sad that we followed up the shock and horror of that day with an unreasonable, unjustified "war". I don't know what to say.
ReplyDeletePoignant.

ReplyDeleteGreat post. I was so caught up in Fashion Week yesterday, I forgot what day it was. I wish I had gone down to Ground Zero to pay my respects.
