This is a follow up to the Sunday post on the Mermaid Parade in Coney Island. There were so many pictures and such fond memories that I wanted to show you more. People make their own costumes or their friends help them, and they put on some marine influenced makeup colors - green blue, sequins, shine and glitter are well liked. Some march in groups and then break into short dance routines; here is a VIDEO of some of them. And there are plenty who take the opportunity to participate but stretch the mermaid theme or perhaps ignore it all together. But it's all in good spirit - the creative celebration is what counts. This event looks wild and wacky.It's good to see people just having simple fun, maybe I should have turned up in my LST;) Then again I might have been arrested!
The curved scarves give the photo a flowing action. Nice job.
They do look more like my preconceived ideas of mermaids - without the tails of course. Nice blues
I love blue, so this was quite a color day for me - every shade of blue was amply represented.

What a fun event! I agree with Kate, I sense the rollicking waves in your photo, it is very nice. The red mer-man in your collage gets my vote.
