Home of internationally renowned celebrity chef Mario Batali (with his signature ponytail and orange rubber clogs), Babbo takes reservations up to one month in advance - from the numerical calendar day. However, the restaurant is generally completely booked within 20 minutes for that day one month forward. Priority is given to those appearing in person. So, with my family coming to visit on April 22nd, today was my day to make the pilgrimage to Babbo to secure a highly coveted reservation in one of New York's most popular restaurants! I showed up 15 minutes before 10:00 AM - when they start taking reservations. The process was quite painless this way with only one other individual waiting. I typically do not chase the latest trends, but I have been wanting to try Babbo for some time. Mario has earned a tremendous reputation. We will see ...

How cool! You'll have to let us know how the food was!
Love the NY blog - it's making me a bit homesick!
Hi There,
Love your photos, there's always that little, tiniest, almost imperceptible degree of an angle off true to make the eye's mind go tilt. I love NY too, although was only there for 10 days. It was the fastest town I'd ever experienced.
Welcome to DPB!
PS: Bon appetit!
Those Italians have got it made. We do not have lengthy waits for reservations, but I was in San Francisco last September and called a restaurant for a reservation for that evening and was told the waiting time was 2 months. Yikes!
What is so special about this restaurant? I am really looking forward to your full report!
A NY blog! Great. In answer to your comment--yes L.A. is taking over the world, hence the title "Los Angeles Is Everywhere" (except as a link on your blog), a process that will soon make everywhere nowhere. I should know. Protect your neighborhood.
Even though you don´t follow the latest trend as you say it is always good for us to know. What´s "cooking" in NY is always a reference for the rest, why so? I don´t know. So keep us informed please. It looks like a nice place but the story will be fully covered in April I supposed.
Thanks for everyone's kind wishes.
We will be sure to report back.
This place has a Michelin star, but it's more that Batali is very popular here, a media personality, books, tv, products, other fashionable restaurants, he is an entire industry unto himself. He wants to raise respect for Italian food to make it on par with French, and is known for the use of unusual ingredients and combinations.
