Metal Ferns
More on Rockefeller Center, the Art Deco extravaganza. Here is a detail of a bronze statue, one of a symmetrically placed pair, which have giant fern fronds graciously presenting the central area in front of the main building, presently occupied by an ice skating rink . Must be the last few days for the skaters, winter came back today for a little while, but it's fighting a losing battle. Very soon, as every spring, the ice thaws and then there are cafe tables with umbrellas to protect us from the sun...

I hear that it's snowing in upstate NY today - here is it cold but clear weather.
I love this ice-skating rink - and the statue is impressive!
Nice curved statue.
I used to love skating at rockefeller center... This February we went back with the kids but unfortunatly we arrived the day of the snow strom...lots of snow...New York like I've never seen before...great picture by the way...
I think the impressions of visitors to any city is much different than a resident. As a resident I try to find the human experiences, the intimate, the mangeable. We navigate in ways to avoid the insanity as much as possible. We try to find the oases. We learn to live not just survive. Thanks for all the positive. Lucy and I have a lot of exciting ideas along with the spontaneous photos.

Every person have a different prespective of the same place, it's more the eyes rather then being resident or not, i think.
It was just by the rockerfeller centre that I learned all about pumkin carving - USA style! this brings back memories. (Not the ferns, they've grown since I was there)
Love your photo's. Wish i was there.
Spent alot of time around this area back in September when I visited. Mainly because it has Nintendo World in close vicinity! :)
Great photo guys!
